First of all, poker is a 5 card game. Players are required to use only the best five cards to make the best poker hands. All these poker hand rankings apply to Texas Hold'em, 5 card draw, seven card stud, etc. For every grouping, the rank of your five cards will determine who the winner is. The player with the highest hand wins the pot. Royal Flush - All five cards with the same suit. Cards must be numbered from 10 through Ace. Straight Flush - Any five cards in the same suit with consecutive values. Four of a Kind - Any four cards with the same value. Full House - Any three cards with the same value plus two cards with the same value. Flush - Any 5 cards in the same suit. Straight - Any 5 cards with consecutive values. Three of a Kind - Any three cards with the same values. Two Pair - Any two cards with the same values plus another two cards of the same values. Pair - Any pair of cards with the same value. High Card - If no hands is achieved, the highest card wins.

Not too long ago, a raid happened on a poker game somewhere in Far East Dallas. While it was surely not the only raid that happened in the country, it was one of the most talked-about when it transpred. It is not the end of this, according to Dallas Texas Poker News that I've been reading, tips on illegal poker are on the rise. I am not saying playing tips on how to play stronger poker, I mean tip as in the citizen's complaint given to the police. Just last year, fifty complaints were received about unlawful gambling, that included some on 8-liner rooms. Going back to that raid, as per the Dallas Texas Poker News, 47 individuals were cited, and also a number of operators, and the authorities confiscated about a dozen gambling tables. Still according to the Dallas Texas Poker News, there are a lot of folks who are not bothered with the poker operations around them YET, there are those who are. Said one woman, bottles have been thrown at her yard, and that she is getting to be afraid. With all due respect to this woman, I do not think it is fair to blame poker per se for this kind of thing. I mean, if she has an angry enemy, poker or not, she would be inconvenienced.

Here is a technique or strategy which is ideal for the 8/5 and 7/5 Jacks or better games. Few hands should not be divided or broken up, naturally, if you receive the Royal flush, maintain all the 5 cards, and wait for your millions or thousands or whatever. Remember, if you are still a newbie video poker player, memorize this. For jackpots like the Royal, almost always, it's a person that would pay you, not the machine concerned. Hold on to all 5 cards if it's a full house or a straight flush, the same with the 4-of-a-kind, and regarding 3 of a kind, keep the trio, let go of the two. This would open the possibilities for a full house or a 4-of-a-kind. Every strong video poker player knows that there are always excptions to the rules. Under the right timing, the gambler would sometimes break the flush, the straight, or even the pair of Js. One illustration, you have a Js, Jd, 10d, 9d, 8d, you have 4 cards for the open-straight flush, but you likewise have two Js. Consult the expert charts, and you would find that the 4-card open-straight flush ranks higher than the Jack pair (better), thus, let go of the Js, that is about it.

Here is a bit of new poker law news that should wake you up, or if you are about to go to sleep just now, at least interest you. Interactive Entertainment AG of Austria, among Europe's foremost Net-based gambling services, was saddened by the dismissal. I am speaking of the German Federal Court of Justice's decision to dismiss a motion for suspending actions against Bwin. This was all connected to a ruling handed in favor of Germany's government-run Westlotto, a lottery. According to the new poker law news, Westlotto aimed for enforcment in February of 2006, when the initial appeal of Bwin got turned down. On that development, Bwin said another appeal would come, but they said that this current decision would have a (direct quote this) "material adverse effect" on the company's money situation. They are still looking forward to this though: the infringement proceedings versus Germany via the EU would come to a ruling on their favor (Bwin's). Well, what more can I say, let us just wait for the new poker law news. On another news, the major poker-representing entity Poker Royalty just disclosed that Bill (called the Stunning one) came to terms with them insofar as marketing/management representation is concerned. That would cover licenses and sponsorships.

Of all the types of poker card games, there are essentially two that serve as a cut above the rest. They're Texas Hold 'Em and Omaha. I've played a good deal of these two games in the past so I guess I'd better share my learnings with all of you. So, here's what I have to share about these two types of poker card games. Let's talk about Texas Hold 'Em first. Oh, before I forget, let me tell you first that both poker games are community card games. When we say community card games, we mean that, unlike other poker types wherein each player needs to have a deck of cards of his own, you only need one deck of cards for the whole table. Now, with Texas Hold 'Em, a five card combination is passed around the table and each player has to deal with two cards. If he gets the highest valued ones, then of course, he wins. How about Omaha? In Omaha, instead of dealing with just two cards, this time you deal with four. It follows the same procedure as with Texas Hold 'Em--the five card combination is passed around, the players deal with four each, and that's it.

Most of the people just consider a game of poker as, well, a game. But for those who loving tinkering with stuff, developing poker games of their own on their computers or even inventing an alternative poker game or tournament that's all your own! Whether you're a novice or an expert in poker, there's only one website to search, and that's the Home Poker website. To access, just log on to www.homepoker.com. I guess the site's called Home Poker because it serves as the home of all poker players and enthusiasts. I guess we all know that when we say home, usually it pertains to a place where everything you need is in it, the three basic needs food, shelter, and clothing. It's much the same with Home Poker. Home Poker's got a poker learning guide, rather like a poker school, instructions on poker how-to's, winning strategies and tips, and a poker store where you can buy all the stuff you'll need for a game and to establish yourself as a poker player. Also, it's got links to the most popular poker game sites and other websites related to poker. The best thing about Home Poker, for me, is that it not just helps its customers become better poker enthusiasts, it helps them stand on their own feet as well. Check out the poker tournament hosting guide. It's just very comprehensive.

This is a handy software tool that you can use to evaluate your poker hands whenever you play poker on an Internet poker gaming site. Play your favorite poker variants with this state of the art poker gaming scheme and you have the chance to save your poker hand information for future reference. Not only that, this very convenient computing system gives you a run down of your, well, poker hands chronicles. What kind of tool is this? It's called a poker tracker. It's basically a downloadable software program, but it comes with a fee, of course. I got mine directly from the poker tracker supplier website (www.pokertracker.com) and used PayPal to pay for it. How does the poker tracker benefit me? It gives me an edge against my opponents, in the sense that I get to know who among them is shark and who is fish so that the next time I encounter them, I'll know what to do. I learned my style and my opponents' styles through the poker tracker. What I've found out, though, is of course none of your business. The good thing about poker tracker is they encourage you to download your preferred poker tracker program first prior to the payment. This guarantees that you get a good buy, most especially since poker tracker does not issue refunds once you get your unique registration code.
